THREE Carling Cup clashes this week will see tubby trio Sol Campbell, Eidur Gudjohnson and Benni McCarthy finally take to the field for their respective teams.
Newcastle’s Sol Campbell hit the headlines after being branded a “fat belly” by fans after his move to the club this Summer, and is set to make his debut for the team against Chelsea tomorrow.
Stoke signing Eidur Gudjohnson has also been left too thickset after the Summer to start for Stoke this season, with one substitute showing so far, but he’s likely to start versus Fulham.
And West Ham striker Benni McCarthy is ready to shine in their Sunderland clash tonight after being left out of his native South Africa’s side over the Summer as they hosted the World Cup for fitness problems and then being fined £80,000 by West Ham for being overweight at the start of the season.
Let’s hope they still all have an appetite for the game to match.
