AFTER 18 months of rumours Sven Goran Eriksson is coming to Rothley – to switch on the village’s Christmas lights.
The current Leicester City and former England manager has been linked with a move to the village ever since he became director of football at Notts County last Summer.
The Swede’s agent Athole Still contacted the Echo last summer to put an end to the rife rumours that Sven was buying a house in the Loughborough area.
Those rumours were re-ignited when the manager took over The Foxes last month although he’s since thought to have purchased a house in Leicester.
But he will be in Rothley on Thursday, November 25, at 6pm for the annual turn on of the village’s Christmas lights.
Percy Hartshorn, clerk of Rothley Parish Council, said: “We’re delighted he will be switching on our lights.
“Sven is certainly the most famous person we’ve had to switch the lights on. He’s quite a draw so we’re hoping to attract a big crowd.
“We have a few contacts at Leicester City Football Club and they had a word with Sven who is happy to do the honours.
“We now hope it will be a great night with good weather.”
