ARSENAL’S Dutch goal machine Robin Van Persie has defied medics to be named on the club’s shortlist to face Barcelona.
The London club head to the Nou Camp with a 2-1 advantage in the clubs’ Champions League tie.
A knee injury sustained in the Carling Cup final looked set to rule Van Persie out – but today The Gunners included him on their roster.
A spokesman said: “Robin van Persie has been added to the Arsenal squad for their Champions League clash with Barcelona.
“The Dutch forward was substituted during the Carling Cup Final on February 27 after suffering a knee injury. But he trained with his team-mates at London Colney on Monday and has travelled to Spain.
“Arsene Wenger has named a 19-man squad. This will be cut to 18 ahead of Tuesday’s game at the Nou Camp.”
It’s not the first time that Van Persie has made a quick recovery – in 2009 he beat an ankle injury by massaging his leg with fluid from a human placenta.
