ARSENAL’S back-up ‘goalkeeper’ against Blackpool this Sunday was Dutch stiker Robin van Persie.
After an injury to Manuel Almunia in the warm-up, up stepped Jens Lehmann, who has come out of retirement to help the Gunners during an injury crisis which has seen stoppers Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski.
And if Lehmann had been forced to leave the field due to injury or a red card, Van Persie would have been stuck in goal.
Never fear, Arsenal fans – Lehmann said: “He is a very good goalkeeper, but he doesn’t take my glove size.”
What odds a Premier League appearance for Bob Wilson before the season’s out?
