NOW that the whistle has finally blown on the football season, it can only mean one thing – silly season.
That’s right folks, transfer rumours are the order of the day, with every Tom Dick and Eduardo being linked with potential suitors just to fill column inches and pub conversations.
Luckily online, we webmasters can blart as little or as much as we like, so I’ll try and keep it all to a minimum, I promise – but one nugget Goaltastic has had delivered really deserves a mention.
Despite signing on at Camp Nou just last year, Dutch international midfielder Ibrahim Afellay is being linked with Liverpool in a deal in the region of £15m.
And the talented young maestro could well be on the move, with a combination of Barcelona interest in the likes of Cesc Fabregas – yawn – and Alexis Sanchez to increase competition, and the prospect of a benched Afellay losing his place in the Dutch squad in the run-up to Euro 2012.
As a result, Afellay is rumoured to be the current apple of Kenny Dalglish’s eye.
