PORT Vale boss Micky Adams is forking out £50,000 in order to join his club’s board.
After two members of the Staffordshire club’s board were voted off, the club was left one person shy – meaning they are not permitted to sign new players.
In order to avert a crisis next season, manager Adams is set to plough £50,000 of his own money into the club to buy him onto the board to make up the numbers.
He said: “I need to sign players. At the moment I only have 13 registered.
“I’m not interested in sitting in a boardroom and talking about how many meat pies we’re going to sell on a Saturday or if there’s a problem in the ladies toilets.
“I’ve been asked to solve a short-term problem, it’s a football matter.”
All sounds a bit Championship Manager if you ask me – perhaps he could get a friend to be manager of a Premier League club and buy some of his players for hugely inflated prices while he’s at it.
