FOOTBALLING legend Pele has turned down an invite to kick-start his playing career at the Club World Cup.
Brazilian side Santos invited the 70-year-old – who retired in 1977 – to take to the field for them to try and secure his third world title, after winning it in 1962 and 1963.
However a spokesman for Pele said: “There is no such possibility, it is a nonviable idea and there is not the slightest chance it can happen.
“There is no room in his agenda. It is full already with appointments for the entire year and the closer it gets to the World Cup in Brazil, the harder it will be.
“He thanked the invitation. It was a marketing idea, but there is no way it can happen.”
