CHELSEA’S Nigerian midifelder Jon Obi Mikel took to the field just hours after hearing his father had gone missing.
Mikel’s father Michael Obi was reported missing on Sunday after not returning home from work in the city of Jos on Friday and not answering his phone over the weekend.
However despite finding out the news just before setting off for Stoke, Mikel still took to the field for the full 90 minutes.
A spokesman for the player said: “He is totally devastated.
“He was under a lot of stress, but he showed a lot of character and mental strength to play against Stoke.”
