SUPERSTAR footballers representing the Great Britain Olympic team, possibly including household names such as David Beckham and Gareth Bale, could be headed for Loughborough.
It has been revealed that despite playing across the country, Team GB footballers will spend at least some of next summer’s London 2012 Games staying in the Olympic Village – leading to hopes they will also take part in the preperation camp in the town.
The Football Association, who have been appointed to oversee the teams by the British Olympic Association, told the Echo it will not make a formal announcement on Olympic preperations until it has appointed coaches for the men’s and women’s teams – believed to be Stuart Pearce and Hope Powell – in the coming weeks.
