Failed footballer sues church for £10m

DESPITE his career petering out at a Portuguese third division side, retired footballer Aquimedes Nganga says he could definitely have played for Manchester United.
Nganga believes the reason he ultimately failed to turn out for the Red Devils was his conversion to the Baptist church – who he has now filed papers against for £10m damages for ruining his chances.
The 46-year-old believes he could have earned £20,000 a week but for the “psychological harm” which ended his playing career aged 25.
He said: “I could definitely have had a long career in the Premiership.
“I see many players playing today who I am not inferior to – and perhaps even better than.
“Most midfielders are either defensive or attacking but I was both. I had something new.”
The Baptist Union of Great Britain plans to contest the claim.
