Don’t Be Sad About Euro 2012 Finishing XI

shinji kagawa.jpeg
SO IT’S all done and dusted – the magnificently entertaining Euro 2012 tournament has finished with a Spanish blaze of glory.
But don’t be sad – there’s plenty of footballing fun to get excited about.
First we have Team GB’s men and women taking on the world at London 2012, and then a new Premier League season kicks off, and while it’s early days, there’s some excellent signings being made already.
So here’s an XI to get excited about gracing the Premier League next season. Admittedly the defence is a bit iffy, but my God they’ll be good going forward –
GK – Foster
DEF – Cuellar, Nelson, Whittaker
MID – Marin, Kagawa, Sigurdsson, Hazard, Podolski
ATK – Petric, Giroud

World XI

lionel messi.jpeg
FIFA have named their World XI this week in a star-studded ceremony.
And as I’m sure you can guess it contains Lionel Messi – who also won the best player award, for the third year on the trot.
Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola was named best coach, while Brazilian team Santos’ star Neymar scored the Puskas Award for the best goal of the calendar year.
A special award was also made to Manchester United’s long-serving Sir Alex Ferguson.
The World XI in full is –
GK – Iker Casillas
DEF – Dani Alves, Gerard Pique, Nemanja Vidic, Sergio Ramos
MID – Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Andres Iniesta
ATK – Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo

My Most Hated XI

emile heskey 3.jpg
I HATE being angry.
For that reason I hate A United View, a fellow football blog which kindly allowed me to compile a guest post which went up today.
It forced me to dredge up a whole barrelful of negative emotion, of despair, and hatred, and anger, to compile a full team of players I really detest.
My team is below, for an explanation of why they made the cut you can click here
GK – Green
DEF – Cole, Terry, Ferdinand, Alves
MID – Robben, Doriva, Barry, Walcott
ATK – Heskey, Villa

Released Players XI mark II

jonathan woodgate.jpg
LAST month Premier League clubs began shaping up for a summer of transfer activity by ditching their dead wood – which I reckoned at the time was enough dead wood to keep a club on a tight budget afloat in the Premier League.
Since then, more and more players have been dropped by their teams – and there’s now enough talent floating around to raft together a pretty strong side.
Check out my selections from players left out of contract at the end of this season below –
GK – Kingson
DEF – Woodgate, Upson, Faye
MID – Zenden, Gera, Vieira, Reo-Coker, Larsson
ATK – Carew, Elmander

Released Players XI

AS SUMMER transfer season is now just about upon us, a number of clubs are already declaring their intentions when it comes to staffing.
For example, rumours abound that Michael Owen and Owen Hargreaves will no longer be owen-d by manchester United come the Summer, and even Joey Barton’s rise in form last season can’t secure a contract offer at Newcastle.
Now many clubs have yet to announce who’ll be dropping from their roster – meaning this reject squad could be boosted considerably in the coming weeks – but Goaltastic reckons a pretty decent lower-Premiership, upper-Championship side could still be formed by managers operating on a shoestring at present.
What do you all think to this line-up, made up of recently ex-Blackpool, Newcastle, West Brom, Bolton and Cardiff players?
GK – Kingson
DEF – Samuel, Campbell, Meite, Zuiverloon
MID – Reid, Cohen, Barnes, Elmander
ATK – Harewood, Bothroyd

Team Of The Season XI

nani.jpeg
IT’S been a hell of a season, one of the most unpredictable 10 months of football I’ve ever known – here’s hoping the Champions League final throws one more surprise our way next weekend…
But regardless of the result at Wembley on Saturday, over the course of the season, both domestically and in Europe, some of the creamiest of the current Premier League teams’ crop has undoubtedly risen to the top.
Apart from the right backs – it’s such a black spot I’ve stuck David Luiz out of position there, becuase he deserves a mention and he’s got great hair.
So to give the best of the best their dues, here’s Goaltastic’s 4-4-2 formation Team Of The Season –
GK – Van Der Sar (Man Utd)
DEF – Luiz (Chelsea), Hangeland (Fulham), Vidic (Man Utd), Baines (Everton)
MID – Nani (Man Utd), Adam (Blackpool), Toure (Man City), Bale (Spurs)
ATK – Van Persie (Arsenal), Tevez (Man City)
