NOW the dust has just about settled on an extremely active Transfer Deadline Day, it’s clear there’s been some cracking business done.
It was such a blast, I propose that next summer they let people negotiate football transfers for a whole month or maybe more…
Anyway, to mark some of the best deals that were struck by Premier League clubs on the very last day of dealing – despite nobody picking up the dream partnership of Heskey and Owen – here’s my Transfer Deadline Day Deals XI –
GK – Lloris (Spurs)
DEF – Maicon (Man City), Nastasic (Man City), Oviedo (Eve)
MID – Hernandez (Swansea), Adam (Stoke), Dempsey (Spurs), Mbia (QPR), Sinclair (Man City)
ATK – Berbatov (Fulham), Ramirez (Southampton)

THE latest figure to don the famous red shirt of Liverpool has made his first public appearance.
Mighty Red, the club’s new Liver bird mascot, met young fans at a children’s party at Anfield.
“I couldn’t believe it when he walked in,” claimed six-year-old Daniel from Wavertree.
And nine-year-old Lauren from Tuebrook added: “I thought Mighty Red was well cool.
“But I think my sister was a little bit shocked when he first walked in. Then he started doing his mad dance and she loved it.”
In other news, Liverpool look like they are set to sign Fulham and United States forward Clint Dempsey for a reported £6.5m.

Goaltastic Fantasy Football League – Gameweek 27

cross block.JPG
IT WAS a mixed bag for fantasy managers this gameweek – with injuries to the likes of Gareth Bale, rotation from players like Sergio Aguero, red mists from the Stephane Sessegnons of this world and missed penalties, Ba, undoing the good work of the likes of sharpshooters Robin van Persie and Clint Dempsey.
As a result, the league has more red arrows than an RAF flypast, including previous league leader Bangkok Foxes who drops to second place.
Debbie Does Gallas moves up to first as a result.
Other risers include Ruff Tuff Bluff Stuf (3), The Boss XI (6), CescforBarca (13), alien resurrection (16), my 11 (17) and VZ Vampires (20).
Top scorer this week was Kaz Kyiev (23) with a massive 84 points – contrasting to the lowest score of 13 from 66th placed Faux Pas Rangers.

Ball not to blame for Green howler

THE World Cup ball designed by Loughborough University has been defended after being implicated in Rob Green’s howler against the United States.
After the England goalie fluffed a bobbling shot from Clint Dempsey to allow the Americans a share of the points, both the England manager and England captain hinted that the Jabulani ball could have been at fault.
Skipper Steven Gerrard said: “We can’t criticise the keeper – the ball is tricky.”
And Fabio Capello said: “I spoke with some of the players and they said the ball changed direction at the last moment.”
Loughborough academic Dr Andy Harland has hit back, saying: “Don’t blame me or the ball.
“I’ve heard the complaints but it is only because players aren’t used to the ball.
“I can categorically state there is nothing wrong with it – we did years and years of research to get it right.”
And Adidas, maker of the Jabulani World Cup ball, has rejected claims that it was to blame.
Spokesman Thomas van Schaik said: “We are happy with the ball’s performance and we don’t think it had anything to do with the goal England conceded. On the contrary, if you look at the games so far, some goalkeepers have been the stars of the tournament.
“The Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and United States goalkeeper Tim Howard won the man-of-the-match award in their games, and the South Africa goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was also excellent against Mexico.”
