Everton top of the league on social media

DAVID Moyes may have moved onwards and upwards to join champions Manchester United, but in social media terms his previous club Everton are top of the league.
New research from RadiumOne shows that while the Toffees may not have the biggest following, their fans engage the most with their posts – for example Aston Villa and Manchester City are working hard to keep their fans up-to-date (making 337 and 287 posts on Facebook in just 30 days respectively) their fans aren’t getting involved with the content, leaving them near the bottom of the table.
After Everton, Norwich City came second, followed by Manchester United, Southampton and Sunderland.
At the bottom of the table, Stoke City, Hull City Tigers and Swansea City would find themselves in the relegation positions as the least socially savvy teams in the league.
Abeed Janmohamed, Commercial Director at RadiumOne, said: “Despite Manchester United having an enormous following, our research goes to show that, in social at least, size isn’t everything.
“What this shows, I think, is that the clubs that have spent decades cultivating a strong community of real football fans are best placed to take advantage of social media, with passionate fans actively engaging with their clubs.”

clint dempsey.jpeg
THE fact Clint Dempsey is after a move away from Fulham is no secret.
First Aston Villa agreed terms only to be rebutted earlier today, then Liverpool tried to strike a deal – but now it seems Spurs are set to land the American attacking asset.
The rumours are that a deal has already been struck and a superfast medical is being arranged as we race towards the 11pm deadline…

Transfer Deadline Day – Heskey on the move

ODDS are dropping like, well, a rather clumsy striker, on a move being made today for Emile Heskey.
The former England striker is rumoured to be on the verge of a transfer to Charlton Athletic, after leaving Aston Villa earlier this year and becoming a free agent.
What a heart-warming sight it would be to see Emile plying his trade one for one last hurrah in the Championship.

Goaltastic Season Survey results

robin van persie.jpeg
THE votes are in, the results have been counted – granted, it’ didn’t take very long – and here are the results of the inaugral Goaltastic season survey.
A few names dominate the player of the year categories.
Domestically, it was a landslide for Robin van Persie, while worldwide, Lionel Messi destroyed the competition in the surveys takes as well as on the field.
The signing of the season however split the vote – with the names of Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Newcastle’s Demba Ba and Spurs’ Scott Parker all topping the poll.
Most entertaining vote saw Mario Balotelli pipping City teammate David Silva and Gunner Robin van Persie, with the Dutchman also jointly topping success of the season, alongside Swansea City and Antonio Valencia of Manchester United.
Three teams were named as flops – winner Liverpool, followed by Aston Villa and Wolves.
And the answer to who would you like to see playing in the Premier League next season?
Santos’ Neymar and Messi were the favourites – altough an honourable mention must go to the answer Leeds United!

“The winning filling was chosen by Villa supporter Mr Hugh Cottrill.
“The special pie promotion comes as Villa look to climb the prestigious Football Pie League.”

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to Emile Heskey’s home after his other half, Chantelle Tagoe, set the kitchen alight.
The WAG – a former Come Dine With Me contestant, no less – set a roast pork joint alight while practising ahead of preparing the Aston Villa man’s Christmas dinner.
She tweeted: “OMG set the fire alarm off + almost burnt me pork! Smoke evrywer! SHAAAME the firemen av turned up.”
Followed shortly by: “At least I no me fire alarm works! Me mum was made up with all the hunky firemen in me kitchen! hahaha.”

Heskey the new Beckenbaur

emile heskey.jpg
ASTON Villa fans, I have a sinking feeling for you…
Villa boss Alex McLeish is planning on playing lumbering ex-England striker Emile Heskey as a central defender.
McLeish has been gushing over the goal-shy forward’s ability, likening him to German legend Franz Beckenbaur.
McLeish said: “We now know what Emile can do. He can play in any position. I could even play him at the back without any fears.
“We played him at centre-back last week in training and he was spraying the ball about as if I was watching Franz Beckenbauer.
“He is a brilliant all-round player, he understands the game and we need him in the squad.”
